The Trough publishes the writing of philosophers which would otherwise be difficult to publish in traditional academic journals. If you are a philosopher with something to share with the readers of the Trough, feel free to contact us.
Additional Details
- We welcome all types of submissions, including essays, short stories, and poetry.
- Submissions should be in at least a loose way related to philosophical themes.
- There are no length requirements, but we may ask for particularly long essays (10,000+ words) to be shortened, or broken up into smaller posts.
- Submissions will be reviewed by our editorial board.

(1) A description (less than 500 words) of the writing you wish to publish with us (you can also include a draft if you wish),
(2) An explanation (less than 500 words) of why you want to share this work through the Trough,
(3) A very brief summary of your relationship to philosophy, academic or otherwise.
We will get back to you and let you know if we think the Trough would be a good fit for your piece. Please note that while our goal is to dispel some negative effects of peer-review, we do vet work for quality and consistency with our mission.
